"Park Ji-won and Hwang Dae-heon met yesterday (22nd) and had sincere conversations that they had not been able to talk to each other," Hwang's agency "Ryan At" said on Sunday. "We had time to understand and empathize with each other. Hwang made a sincere apology to Park Ji-won for the past situation."

Hwang Dae-heon, the "2022 Beijing Winter Olympics 1500m Gold Medalist," recently raised controversy over deliberately "fouling" his "team mate" Park Ji-won. 

Starting with the World Cup last season, Hwang clashed with world No. 1 Park Ji-won at the 2024 Short Track Speed Skating World Championship last month and the first round of selection matches for the national team this month. He has had as many as four encounters.

After returning from the world championships on the 19th of last month, Hwang Dae-heon tried to make a proper apology to Park Ji-won, but the situation was not easy, Ryan At explained. 

According to "Ryan At," Hwang Dae-heon visited Park Ji-won and apologized after 1,500 meters of the world championship, but the same situation was repeated the next day, making it difficult for the two players to continue the conversation. After returning home, Hwang Dae-heon contacted Park Ji-won to apologize, but Park Ji-won joined his team, Seoul City Hall, and immediately left for training in Japan to miss the timing.

Since then, the two skaters have focused on the 2024-2025 Short Track Speed Skating Championship, which was held between early and mid-February. At that time, Park joined the national team as No. 1 overall. Hwang failed to carry the national flag as he only ranked 11th.

After confirming the selection of the national team, Park Ji-won briefly answered, "I haven't heard anything special about that yet," when asked in an interview with reporters, "Did you talk to Hwang Dae-heon or received an apology after the (four consecutive) clashes?"

Their face-to-face meeting took place on the 22nd, 10 days after the national team selection match ended on the 12th. Hwang Dae-heon apologized to Park Ji-won at the meeting.
